Aspirations

Debs here :)

'About time!' you're probably thinking. Well partly it is my fault for putting off writing this in my spare time, but the space between this blog and our last is also due to a period of change we have been experiencing as a band. At this point in time it seems right that we share with you what we've been thinking and praying about lately; something we wouldn't have been as able to communicate a couple of weeks ago.

You may have noticed that we haven't posted a video onto YouTube for 5-6 weeks. This is because of my uni work pressures being quite intense over that time, but also because we felt it necessary to re-evaluate our aims and motivation for doing what we do!

YouTube has been such an overwhelming blessing to us. Most of our fans discovered us through this medium, and we really are indebted to our YouTube fan-base for launching us onto the worldwide platform we have now. However, a few weeks ago we were forced to reconsider what exactly inspires and motivates us to project ourselves onto YouTube and perform in front of thousands of people.

As any channel artists will know, watching video views and subscriber hits climb is both fascinating and perhaps a little too addictive. And we had to admit to ourselves that a big part of our motivation for posting videos was in order to increase our stats and be reassured of our popularity!

You may be thinking 'What's wrong in that?' and of course, there's nothing wrong in wanting to improve and reach a wider audience: and the thrill and exposure that comes with that. But at the core of DaViglio and our aspirations for the band, is a hope that we first and foremost approach everything we do with the expectation of positively impacting somebody's life - whether that be through our lyrics, or our performances.

So what does this mean? Well, from now on we may start to do songs that aren't necessarily top of the charts but songs that we love to listen to and perform. When we first started out performing together we recorded the songs that were the most played on our iPods regardless of whether they were cool! Hence videos such as Days Go By appearing on our channel which was a B-side
written by Delta Goodrem and relatively unknown even for her fans.. but we love it still!

The other big factor that caused us to take some time out and reconsider our future was an opportunity Micki was offered by one of the biggest management companies in the world. She faced a massive decision and a life-changing one. I told Micki that I would support her whatever her final decision would be and she spent some time praying for direction and guidance.

She decided to turn the offer down. For those of you who aspire to be world-famous artists, you are probably wondering what on earth Micki was thinking giving up this chance to become the next big thing. So I'll let her explain for you:

"The reason I decided to turn this opportunity down is because I have felt
DaViglio is something that is right for a long time. Together me and Debs are able to write music in our own special way and we have spent many years crafting our act. Besides, I couldn't bare to be in the industry alone, without my best friend. In all seriousness though, it isn't the easiest of industries to be involved with and the thought of flying off to America on my own was daunting. I love being a part of DaViglio and feel that we've got a lot more to share and accomplish together."

So this has been a long and in-depth blog. Thanks for sticking with us right to the end. I guess this makes up for the lack of blogging of late!

We do have more projects coming up in the near future, and we  also have quite a few gigs keeping us busy which we always enjoy :)

Thanks for listening!

Valentines Day

Howdy! :)

So, what's new?

We just released our collab video on "Unintended" by Muse, with the beautiful, the talented and the incredible Mr J Lynn Johnston! Click here if you haven't seen it! Oh and click here if you like it so much you wanna buy it!

This was my first go at properly editing a video and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out! :) We're in the talks with another Male YouTuber about doing a collab with him... nothing's set in stone yet but that should be cool! We're really getting into these collaborations aren't we?!

How was your Valentines day?

If you wanna see a bit of what we got up to on the 14th then I'll be posting something on my personal YouTube account maybe tomorow. :) (Micki's Channel)

I'm not sure what I think about it... I feel like the "cool" thing to say is that it's just another holiday made for making money and blah blah blah. (Which it probably is but, why not use that to our advantage?) Besides, so what... it's only money? Right now, I'm neither here nor there when it comes to Valentines Day but that is probably due to the fact that I have been single every single Valentines Day! I imagine if I was ever with a special someone on the 14th I'd be thrilled at the opportunity to spend a creative, romantic, exciting, unusual day together. But - that hasn't happened in my life yet, so I guess for now I'll stick to being "Meh" about Valentines day!

What else is new? Well, I've developed a really sore throat which I'm not best pleased about. So in terms of next video etc, I'm not sure how productive we're going to be! I really don't wanna push myself but at the same time I'm super motivated and always want to be working on music.

I know she'll never read this but, big thanks to iJustine for promoting our Unintended Cover!

Tons of love at ya,
Micki xxx

An Enjoyable Necessity

Well hello there :)

We've been super busy recently, which is always good! For those of you who aren't up-to date, here's a a quick recap!

We uploaded a new cover of Price Tag by Jessie J onto YouTube last week and uploaded an acoustic version of our latest original song “Wave Goodbye To Me” yesterday. You can find the full version on iTunes: If you're awesome, clickidy click right here!

Seriously guys, we just want to say thank you so much to anyone who has bought this song, or bought any of our other originals/covers on iTunes. It's beyond amazing to think that we're on some people's iPods/computers and your support seriously means the world to us. (I told you I was the cheese and Debs was the chalk!)

Haha! Moving swiftly on...

We can't wait for you guys to see our next video which will feature the amazing J Lynn Johnston. Absolutely super excited about it, and we'll have it finished and uploaded sometime this week :)

In other news, we're always writing whenever we can and plan to release more originals, whenever we can. We're quite sporadic, as you may have noticed! Because we're using different producers and methods when recording our originals, instead of putting them all on one CD we're releasing them one song at a time.

You know a few YouTubers like to do random competitions? Well I was talking to Debs and we were talking about maybe doing our own little competition. What do you think, would you be up for it? We'll probably give it a go anyway and see how it goes down. :)

Right. I better go because I'm absolutely exhausted, and this week my Sunday afternoon nap has been highly deserved. For some reason, without fail, I have a nap every Sunday. Do you ever nap? Some people think I'm crazy but I think napping is just like eating – an enjoyable necessity.

Lots of love,
Micki x

An Intense Day

Hey bloggers!

Firstly, thank you for such a great response to the Only Exception collab video we featured in last week. It's currently setting the world of YouTube ablaze so if you haven't yet seen it, it's worth a peak. The audio track isn't doing too bad on iTunes either which we're excited about :)

Last week we discovered our 'Rolling In The Deep' cover had made it into the top 100 iTunes download chart in numerous countries across Europe. It was even at 14# in Italy and 75# in the UK at one stage which for us is just mind-blowing!

I'm writing this blog on the eve of an important day in the working life of DaViglio. Since I've been pretty much glued to my essay for the past couple of weeks - and now that it's all done and dusted - we've set aside tomorrow as the day that we'll spend industriously on DaViglio business.

2011 has already seen us collaborate with Harry & Alfie on 'Dog Days Are Over' and us star alongside some of the best YouTube artists in the world in the 'Only Exception'. But now we're about to release collab No. 3!

For years Micki and I have admired this man from afar as he was lead vocalist in one of our favourite rock bands Mad At Gravity. He now does loads of YouTube vlogging and acoustic stuff and happened to stumble across us about a year ago. So now we're best buddies with J Lynn Johnston :) And we're just applying the finishing touches to the video!

So tomorrow I will be recording my backing vocals, and we'll be editing the footage!

Also on the to-do-list is a recording of an acoustic performance of our new single 'Wave Goodbye To Me', which will be released very soon!

We may even get a chart cover video done - you never know! Either way, it's going to be an intense day in the studio.

So that's our latest news! We'll let you know exactly what we managed to get done tomorrow and what you can expect to see released this week :)

Best wishes,
Debs x x

Massive YouTube Collaboration :)

Hey guys!

Micki here. :)

Recently we got approached to be a part of a massive YouTube collaboration, which will be released very soon! I'm not sure on the exact date but it'll probably be on YouTube and iTunes on Thursday (27th) so keep watch out for that! ;) No doubt we'll keep you well informed anyway. :) The song is “The Only Exception” by Paramore, and we're going to be along side some very talented YouTubers - Kate M, Amy Colalella, Juliet Weybret, Madilyn Bailey, Ally Rhodes, Ebony Day & Laura Zocca! :)

A few of you might remember the collaboration project we did with 2 producers called “Atomic Beats” - we wrote the hook “Shadows” for them. Well, more recently we've worked with them again and created a hook called “Wave Goodbye To Me”. We loved the hook so much so we decided to made a full song out of “Wave Goodbye To Me” - it's a really fun tune with a bit of Motown influence but we'll talk more about that when it comes out February! :)

Right, I'm off to watch Super Mario Brothers with my lovely sister and friend Becky Owens! Yes, I know that Mario the film got HORRIFIC reviews, but it's a family favourite in our home and we it's a film our good friend Becky must watch. In fact, I recommend everyone watch it!

Micki :)

P.S The bad graphics are part of what makes Mario amazing.

EDIT: Here it is! The Only Exception Collab

Expanding Our Horizons

Welcome to our official Blog!

Once more we're branching out and expanding our horizons - this time with Blogging!

We've felt recently that despite us posting videos and the occasional tweet or Facebook status, you don't really get to see what we get up to day in - day out, what it is that drives us and what goes on behind the scenes.

So what we going to do is update you on Everything that happens in the world of DaViglio. Our hope is that you will get to know us both more on a personal level as we share with you the good and bad, the lovely and ugly!

Some blogs will be written by both of us; others will be individual posts signed Micki or Debs depending on who gets to the computer first ;) We'll be writing individually because this way you'll get to see both of our personalities. (We are like chalk and cheese as you'll soon find out by our different writing styles.)

We really hope that you'll enjoy our blogs and that you'll continue to support us as we begin another leg of our journey together. :)

Until our next blog...
